Amaluna: nourishing families with dignity

Amaluna is our food-parcel initiative dedicated to providing essential ingredients to families in Palestine, ensuring they have the staples to cook regular, nutritious meals. Discover how we bring stability and dignity through every delivery.

Making a tangible difference

Amaluna stands out by providing comprehensive food parcels directly to families, giving them the sustained ability and dignity to prepare meals for several days, rather than relying on sporadic aid.

Our mission with Amaluna

Amaluna exists to take families from “we don’t know what we’ll eat this week” to “we have enough staples to cook regular meals.” We achieve this by providing carefully assembled parcels with essential items like flour, rice, pulses, oil, and other basics. This initiative is designed for families facing severe shortages, displacement, unemployment, or price shocks who often cannot afford or physically reach the food they need to survive.

Impactful aid delivery

Amaluna puts complete, cook-ready food parcels directly into the hands of families, giving them several days of reliable meals and the dignity of cooking for themselves. Unlike efforts focused on single hot meals, Amaluna provides full parcels—flour, rice, pulses, oil, and other staples—so families can prepare multiple meals over time according to their own tastes and needs.

Who Amaluna helps

Amaluna primarily helps displaced and low-income families struggling to afford or access basic food, especially in Gaza, where food insecurity and unemployment are extremely high. These are households living in tents, damaged homes, or temporary shelters, often with children, elderly relatives, or pregnant and breastfeeding women, and with little to no stable income.

For these families, Amaluna addresses three specific needs:

  • Food security: providing complete food parcels ensures they have enough ingredients to cook several meals.
  • Stability and dignity: reducing daily stress and allowing parents to prepare familiar dishes at home.
  • Protection of health and nutrition: regular access to staple foods prevents the worst impacts of hunger.

Meet the Amaluna Team

Amaluna’s food parcels are prepared and delivered by a small, community-based team in Gaza. Working in Khan Yunis and Nuseirat, they assemble packages with staples like flour, cooking oil, sugar, rice, pulses, and canned goods, then bring them directly to families who are struggling to afford or access basic food.

How the team supports families

Team members identify families across Gaza who are facing displacement, unemployment, and severe price shocks, and who often do not know how they will eat in the coming days. They coordinate the assembly of food parcels and ensure each package includes essential ingredients that allow families to cook multiple meals with dignity at home.

By working inside the community, the Amaluna team can adapt quickly to changing needs, reach households living in tents or damaged buildings, and maintain a direct relationship with the families they serve. Every parcel represents careful planning, local knowledge, and a commitment to protecting food security and health.

Team members

  • Ghada & Sanaa Qudaih – Amaluna team members in Khan Yunis who help prepare and distribute food parcels, drawing on their experience running Ghada’s Kitchen to reach displaced families and support larger community needs.
  • Tasneem – Amaluna team member in Nuseirat, helping identify vulnerable families, assemble parcels with core staples, and coordinate deliveries within the camp and surrounding areas.
  • Ruqaia – Supports Amaluna’s work in Gaza, assisting with packaging parcels, organizing distributions, and ensuring families receive the right mix of flour, oil, sugar, and canned goods.

Why many Palestinian women stay off camera?

Most women in Palestine don’t show their faces or post themselves on social media because of modesty and religious reasons. Because of this, they often receive less support—people assume that if a woman won’t go on video or share selfies, she isn’t really Palestinian and must be a scammer. In reality, many Palestinian women are protecting their dignity, privacy, and families, and their choice to stay off camera should never cost them care; these women deserve our full trust, solidarity, and support.

Our Impact So Far

  • Over 1,000 USD raised through Amaluna, primarily via private donation.

  • 70+ families supported with comprehensive food parcels across Gaza.

With over 1,000 USD in funding, Amaluna has already provided full, cook‑ready food parcels to more than 70 families in Gaza. Each parcel includes core staples—such as flour, cooking oil, sugar, rice, pulses, and canned goods—so households can prepare multiple meals at home, rather than relying only on occasional hot‑meal distributions.

For families facing displacement, unemployment, and severe price shocks, these parcels turn “we don’t know what we’ll eat this week” into “we have enough ingredients to cook regular meals.” This impact is made possible by private donors and by Amaluna’s team in Khan Yunis and Nuseirat, who assemble and deliver parcels directly to families in need.
